About The Program

SAARC Agricultural Ph.D. Scholarships 2018 is a scholarship for students who want to pursue Ph.D. study on Agricultural Economics. Candidates must be a citizen of SAARC member countries except for Bangladesh. The scholarship will be provided for 3 years with full-time basis.

EligibilityDeadline Date : Closed
  • Candidates belonging to SAARC member countries such as Afghanistan, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka (except for Bangladesh).
  • The age of the candidate must not be more than 45 years.
  • Candidate must have a relevant postgraduate qualification (MSc/MS/Mphil).
  • Candidate must have good academic records.
  • Candidate must have fluency in the English language.
Benefits

Award Details: 

  • Economy class airfare from home country to Sri Lanka and return at the end of the Ph.D. study will be provided to the selected candidate
  • Tuition fee (partially waived by the host institute) Living allowances at the rate of USD 600 per month for up to 3 years will be provided.
  • A one-time grant of USD 1000 will also be provided to cover up expenditure for books, study materials, computer, and thesis production.
  • To cover up research and other costs, a grant of USD 1000 per year will be provided with the recommendation of Ph.D. supervisor.

Candidates will be selected on the basis of:

  • Academic records
  • Publications and experience in relevant field
  • Relevancy and quality of PhD research synopsis

The shortlisted applications are finally evaluated by a committee comprised of the regional expert team.
