About The Program

NBHM Scholarship for Post Graduate Studies in Mathematics 2017 is organized by the Government of India. It invites applications from applicants who have completed or pursuing B.A./B.Sc/Integrated M.Sc and will complete in their course in 2017 and have secured 1st or 2nd grade. The objective of this program is to provide financial assistance to the meritorious applicants to complete post graduation degree in mathematics. The selected applicants will receive INR 6000 per month.

  • Applicants who have secured a 1st class B.A./B.Sc. in mathematics or secured at least 2nd class in B.A.(Hons.)/B.Sc.(Hons.) in mathematics
  • Applicants who are in the final year of the B.A./B.Sc. program and will complete the course by July 2017 with a 1st class or if an honors program at least a second class
  • Applicants with a good academic record who have completed, or will complete by July 2017, 1-year of an M.Sc. program in mathematics are eligible to apply
  • Applicants who have completed, or will complete by July 2017, 3 or 4 years of a 5-year integrated M.Sc. program in mathematics with aggregate grade equivalent to a 1st class
How can you apply?

The application can be done by post with the following steps:
Step 1:
The application should be made on plain paper in the format given at the end of the document.
Step 2: Affix a recent passport-sized photograph of the applicant.
Step 3: Send a self-addressed envelope, to the Zonal Coordinator of the zone in which the applicant wants to appear for the written test.
Step 4: The envelope should have the application and super-scribed NBHM MA/MSc Scholarships.
Step 5: Each applicant should give 2 centers from the zone in which he/she wants to appear for the written test, in order of preference.
Step 6: Send the completed application form to the given addresses of the zonal coordinators.

Selection process:
Written test:

  • The written test will be held on 23 September 2017
  • The test will be of two and a half hours’ duration and involve questions requiring short answers, primarily in the areas of analysis and algebra, but also in other areas of mathematics covered in graduation mathematics program
  • The written test will be conducted at the following centers:
  1. Zone 1: Chandigarh, New Delhi, Srinagar.
  2. Zone 2: Allahabad, Indore, Jabalpur, Raipur.
  3. Zone 3: Goa, Mumbai, Pune, Vallabh Vidyanagar.
  4. Zone 4: Bhubaneswar, Guwahati, Kolkata, Ranchi, Shillong.
  5. Zone 5: Bangalore, Chennai, Cochin, Hyderabad

Interview:
Shortlisted applicants will be called for the interview.

Important dates:

  • Applicant should contact zonal coordinator: 28 August 2017 (if hall ticket is not received by this date)
  • Applicant should contact centre-in-charge: 8 September 2017 (suggested by zonal coordinator if hall ticket is not received by this date)
  • Date of written test: 23 September 2017
