About The Program

Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Fund invites applications for Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Fund Scholarships 2018 from students who have registered for Ph.D. study in India. The scholarship scheme was initiated by the Ministry of Human Resource Development in 1987.

EligibilityDeadline Date : Closed
  • Open to all Indian nationals and nationals of other Asian countries.
  • Applicants must hold a 1st class degree with a minimum of 60% marks in both graduate and postgraduate level.
  • Applicants should not be above 35 years of age.
  • Applicant must be a full-time Ph.D. scholar.

NOTE: Students who have applied for registration for Ph.D. but have not yet been registered at the time of submission of application will not be eligible to apply for the scholarship.

An applicant may apply for the scholarship in any one of the specializations:

  • Indian History and Civilisation
  • Sociology
  • Comparative Studies in Religion & Culture
  • Economics
  • Geography
  • Philosophy
  • Ecology & Environment

Duration of Scholarship: Up to 2 years.

Documents to be attached:

  • A passport size photograph to be pasted on the form.
  • A synopsis of the proposed project as per the attached format.
  • Doctoral Monitoring Committee’s report or Supervisor’s report/recommendations.
  • Postal Order/Demand Draft for INR 100.
  • Ph.D. registration certificate.
