About The Program

The U.S Department of State and IREX invites applications for International Leaders in Education Program (ILEP) Fellowship for the year 2017. The main purpose of this scholarship program is to bring outstanding teachers to the U.S to develop expertise in their subject areas, enhance their teaching skills and increase their knowledge about the United States. It is about 6 months long non-degree, non-credit academic program at a U.S university. In this academic program, participants will work in groups to develop a unique teacher professional development module. ILEP will commence in January 2018 and conclude in May 2018.

  • School teacher of classes 6-12 that serves a primarily local (not expatriate) population of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Telangana, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Lakshadweep and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
  • Minimum 5 years of classroom experience in ILEP teaching disciplines at the time of application: English, English as a Foreign Language (EFL), Social Studies, Mathematics, Science, or Special Education.
  • Bachelor and B.Ed degree holder.
  • Must have obtained a minimum score of 500 on paper-based TOEFL or 61 on the internet-based TOEFL or equivalent.
