Award, Number, and Duration of Fellowship:
There is a provision of total 1000 Final offers of INSPIRE Fellowships to be given every year to eligible students and each Fellowship is tenable for a maximum period of five years or completion of their Ph.D. degree, whichever is earlier. This Fellowship shall not be available to pursue M.Sc. or M.Phil. or M. Tech. course during pursuing in any such Integrated M.Sc.-Ph.D./ M. Phil.-Ph.D./ M. Tech.-Ph.D. courses. However, the continuation of the Fellowship for once selected candidates is based on satisfactory performance certified by the institution as per stipulated GOI guidelines for such Fellowship.
- JRF/month for first 2 years includes Rs:25,000/ - + HRA% of the concerned City (eligible only if not staying institute/university provided accommodations) + Rs:20,000 Contingency/year
- SRF: last 3 years: Rs:28,000/ + if eligible HRA% of City + Contingency of Rs:20,000/year.
- HRA charges if any beyond the prescribed GOI - HRA% of the city/town should be spent from Inspire Fellow pocket only.
- Inspire Fellowship tenure: 5 years or completion of Ph.D. final viva, which ever is early.
Selection Procedure:
The selection followed by the offering of INSPIRE Fellowship to the eligible student is done in two stages:
i). Provisional Offer to those who did not have admission into the Ph.D. course during application stage
ii). Final Offer to those who have admitted into Ph.D. prior to submitting the application.
The Provisional Offer is made on the basis of scrutiny of application along with required documents submitted by the applicant. However, the Final Offer is made on the basis of evaluation of the application on
- Academic merit
- Host Institution including Host Department and Research Supervisor
- The detailed Research Proposal by the Expert Panel.
In this Evaluation Process applicants needs to secure a minimum total cut-off mark on the above three aspects [for example, minimum cut-off marks were 60 out of 100 to finally offer INSPIRE Fellowship in previous cases]. The cut-off marks may vary on the competitive framework of selection process.
