About The Program

The Department of Atomic Energy is organizing the 29th  All India Essay Contest On Nuclear Science & Technology for students studying in graduation in any discipline. The essays should be submitted by a single author. Those contestants who have won prizes earlier in this scheme are not eligible to apply for this contest.

A participate must-

  • Be pursuing regular full-time graduation in any discipline, in an Indian university or an institute deemed to be a university.
  • Submit essay written in any official Indian language or in English.
How can you apply?

Follow the steps given below, in order to participate in the contest-
Step 1- Write the essays on the given topics.
Step 2- Send the essays to the address given below-

Anushakti Bhavan, CSM Marg, Mumbai 400 001.

Note-

  • Contestant must attach Bonafide Studentship Certificate from the principal of the institute/college.
  • The name, residential address, contact no. and email id of the contestant as well as the College/Institute in which he/she was studying should be written on a separate detachable sheet for future communication.

Topics for the essays are-

  • Nuclear Power for Combating Climate Changes
  • Isotopes and Radiation Technology- Impacting the Quality of Life
  • Role of Power Beams in Clean India Mission

Note-

  • The essays should be submitted by the single author.
  • The essay should begin with an introduction, followed by a detailed essay and end with a conclusion and their word limit will be 350 words, 1500 words and 150 words respectively.
  • The entire essay should not exceed 2000 words.
  • The introduction should highlight the multifarious achievements of DAE in basic sciences and nuclear technology development and how these have helped in overall societal development in the country.
  • The essays should be submitted by a single author.
  • A maximum of thirty-six essays will be selected and their author will be invited for oral presentation of the essays in the last week of October 2017.
  • The contestant eligible for oral presentation will be given To and fro AC 3-tier rail fare by the shortest route and Boarding and lodging in the Guest House Of BARC at Anushaktinagar, Mumbai during the authorized period of stay.

Award details-Winning amount will be INR 21,000,INR.14,000, INR.7,000 and INR.3,000 for the first, second, third and consolation prizes respectively.

Note-

  • Consolation prizes will be given to all those who make an oral presentation but do not secure the first, second, or third prize.
  • The first, second and third prizes are given one for each topic.
